In this episode I’m joined by the crew, Dr. Frank Schultz, Nick Muche, and Temple Dillard. We’re all antsy and ready for spring and hit on a number of topics including (state-level) fish and game proposals, and just being wound-up and needing to make some new hunting stories.
I plan on following up with more detailed discussion on the current proposal to close caribou and moose hunting for non-locals in unit 23 and 26A, but below are links to the announcement (along with contact and meeting info), as well as to my article on outdoorlife.com discussing the issue (that also contains links to pertinent herd information).
In this episode, Frank and I sit down a solid a solid 6 1/2 feet apart to discuss a tiny bit of the coronavirus craziness, but mostly spring ice fishing for pike, and how much we are looking forward to getting after the bears in the coming couple months. Enjoy!

Matt Herkstroeter joins me again for this episode as we sit over holes in the ice fishing for pike. We had a great day, and talked about ice fishing, sleds, and what you’d expect out of an ice fishing conversation. Enjoy!

This episode is with Frank Schultz and I as we are returning from an initial trip WAY upriver to set black bear baits. Most of what we had to talk about however, was the phenomenal pike and sheefish fishing we had on our overnight trip. I think for both of us, it was some of the best freshwater fishing we’ve encountered. We caught over 100 pike, around 30 sheefish, and nothing under 30″. We talk pike fishing quite a bit, then veer off into a little bit about what Fairbanks is like and some of the unique people that live here. Enjoy!
